It's true!

The Chuck Norris meme (Google for it if you don't know) has been going around our university campus. The other day I heard one webadmin read off "fun facts" about him to another webadmin. I hear them in scraps of conversation in the halls and on the bus back home.

I know of the great works of Vin Diesel and Batman only from the Internet. My classmates' Internet prowing grounds and mine rarely intersect (unless I get one of them reading an online comic). But the various "factoids" about Chuck Norris have somehow made their way to RL around here.

I can probably guess why. Walker: Texas Ranger was one of the first TV series to be imported and broadcasted on Polish TV when Communism fell. I was very little then, but I can clearly remember the image of Chuck in a cowboy hat, rifle in hand. It probably ran on Polsat, the fourth channel on the TV (after TVP 1, TVP 2, and local TV).

So... yeah. Chuck Norris was one of the first to bring capitalism and consumer culture into the bleak lives of the freshly-freed Polish people.
